Michelle Murphy

Michelle Murphy

Michelle, an Evansville native, found yoga through a volleyball injury in 2001 and has been a CYT (Certified Yoga Instructor) since April 2009. Yoga was her saving grace; rehabilitating her knee through yoga kept her from having surgery which the doctors insisted she needed or she would never be able to squat, bend or be physically active again. To this day, her knee has never been operated on and she gives all the credit to yoga! In 2001 she started practicing Bikram Yoga. Then in 2003 moved to California and was influenced by Tony Sanchez from San Francisco, CA (Yoga Challenge, an off shoot of Bikram), Brian Kest from Santa Monica, CA (Power Yoga), and practiced many other forms of yoga with various instructors in California. Everything she learned while in CA she has brought back to her home town of Evansville. Although Michelle is a CYT she considers herself not only a student of yoga but first and foremost a student of LIFE!

Whitney Arvin

Whitney Arvin

Whitney began learning about yoga back in 2000 but began a regular practice while attending USI in 2006. It became a regular part of her life after discovering that it greatly reduced the stress of being a single parent, working and in school as well as nearly eliminated many lifelong issues with her back/hip problems. Whitney received certification through Yoga Alliance in the spring of 2010 (200 hr.) and is always seeking to continue her education and expansion of knowledge in the various forms of yoga. She is currently studying physical therapy (UE) in order to bring more yoga into the medical world. She enjoys bringing various styles to each class and strives to give every individual whatever it is they are seeking in yoga (and hopefully more).

Anita Powell

Anita Powell

A Nebraska native, Anita Powell is a transplant now living permanently, in the Elberfeld area. Powell first took her yoga practice seriously after surviving ovarian cancer in 1994, when she began to more fully understand the life enhancing qualities of an active yoga practice.

With an eclectic background in modern dance, acrobatics, and a life long interest in wellness and fitness, her yoga practice transferred seamlessly into her lifestyle.

Over the past 20 years, Powell has practiced yoga in four states under the direction of a variety of certified instructors. She is now a 2014 graduate of Yoga Teacher Training under the direction of Chris Crews at The Evansville Yoga Center and a Certified Yoga Instructor.

In February of 2014 she created a closed group on Facebook called Yoga People as a place for local yoga practitioners to share information about events, opportunities, and ideas. She encourages her students and others in the Yoga Community to join by friending her at anitadawnpowell with a request to become added to the group.

Angee Casson

Angee Casson

Angee Casson has spent her adult life pursuing health and fitness and currently teaches fitness classes at various gyms in Evansville. Her love for better health and wellness has inspired her to assist others so they can enjoy the benefits of healthy living and mobility well into their advanced years. In 2011 Angee was introduced to 'the yoga experience' as she attended her first class at the Evansville Yoga Center (EYC). It didn't take her long to notice that on her 'yoga days' she had a feeling of calm, peace, less anxious, basically an overall sense of well-being. On her 'non yoga days' it was pretty much the exact opposite. When she understood the mind/body benefit she was hooked. Angee completed her 200 hour certification thru the Evansville Yoga Teacher Training in May 2014 and is registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT. Her journey as a Yoga Teacher began immediately at the Evansville Yoga Center. She looks forward to her 'yoga' future with the EYC family.

Angee is available for private yoga sessions as well as group events. Please feel free to contact her.
