Yoga Therapy for Stress Relief

Yoga Therapy is yoga with a specific focus on the needs of the student and on the overall well-being of the student, placing equal emphasis on the physical, emotional and spiritual dimension of being.

In this class we will focus on asanas (yoga postures), breath awareness and mudras that will calm the mind and the body, thereby releasing stress. The asanas are gentle, however, they are held for a longer period of time with mindfulness using an affirmation for each asana.

Instructor: Clara Sida, RYT

Level: All levels, from beginners to advanced yoga students

What to bring to class: Yoga mat (if you have one), an open mind and a happy heart

Date and Time: Friday, October 15, 7 - 9 p.m. (2 hour workshop)

Body Awareness Workshop

Body Awareness is the deconditioning of centuries of culturally sanctioned separation of body/mind/Spirit. It is bringing together aspects of ourselves that were never separated by ending an illusion created by various external forces. Body Awareness is the first step in reintegrating body, mind, and Spirit. Awareness shows us that our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies are allies rather than enemies. By slowly removing the border between the body, mind and Spirit, the "conflict or battlefield" begins to disappear. As awareness integrates the body, mind and Spirit, the healing mechanism within begins to function optimally. As our awareness deepens, we open the path of Unity Consciousness, where health and healing take on a completely new meaning and dimension. When we make our connection to Unity Consciousness, this represents the final healing.

In this class you will be guided through a full Body Awareness exercise. This is done through visualization, guided imagery, and breath. You will be guided into and through your physical body (Annamayakosha), your energy body (Pranamayakosha), your emotional body (Manomayakosha), your wisdom body (Vijnyanamayakosha), and your bliss body (Anandamayakosha).

As you journey through each of these bodies, you will then make a Body Map of what your experience may be. At each level you will be given sufficient amount of time to record your experiences. At the completion of all five koshas, you will again be given sufficient amount of time to complete or finalize your body map, and for sharing, if you so desire, of your experiences.

Instructor: Clara Sida, RYT

Date and Time: Saturday, October 16, 2 - 5 p.m. (3 hour workshop)

What to bring to class: Dress comfortably and bring your yoga mat (or you may use one at the studio), an open mind and a happy heart.

Fee: $40.00

Introduction to Meditation and Pranayama Workshop

Meditation is "mindfulness" or "one-pointedness". It is focusing on one thing for a long period of time. The purpose of meditation is to quiet one's mind, to talk to God, to listen to Omni, to feel Love, to know Truth.

Pranayama is to regulate or control your life force. "Prana" means breath, life force, vital energy; "Yama" means to regulate or to control. The purpose of pranayama is to breathe in life energy and breathe out waste and toxins. The breath cleanses the body as it flows out and nourishes the body as it flows in. Breathing techniques are helpful because they make your nervous system strong enough to handle the extra energy that is generated as your spiritual body begins to emerge. Through breath, you are exposed to God-Source by the direct association with the intelligence and love that composes the oxygen.

In this introductory class you will:
• learn various breathing and meditating techniques and how to breathe properly
• learn to enhance your ability to feel, listen inwardly, and be guided from within through the proper use of breath
• learn various healing mudras and mantras

Instructor: Clara Sida, RYT

Date and Time: Sunday, October 17, 1 - 4 p.m. (3 hour workshop)

What to bring to class: Dress comfortably and bring your meditation pillow to sit on (if you have one); note pad and writing instrument; an open mind and a happy heart.

Fee: $40.00
