Yoga Instructors

Michelle Murphy

Michelle, an Evansville native, found yoga through a volleyball injury in 2001 and has been a CYT (Certified Yoga Instructor) since April 2009. Yoga was her saving grace; rehabilitating her knee through yoga kept her from having surgery which the doctors insisted she needed or she would never be able to squat, bend or be physically active again. To this day, her knee has never been operated on and she gives all the credit to yoga! In 2001 she started practicing Bikram Yoga. Then in 2003 moved to California and was influenced by Tony Sanchez from San Francisco, CA (Yoga Challenge, an off shoot of Bikram), Brian Kest from Santa Monica, CA (Power Yoga), and practiced many other forms of yoga with various instructors in California. Everything she learned while in CA she has brought back to her home town of Evansville. Although Michelle is a CYT she considers herself not only a student of yoga but first and foremost a student of LIFE!

Lanna Lee

Lanna Lee began her yoga journey during her second year of college. While studying psychology at the University of Southern Indiana, she began attending Evansville Yoga Center as a student. She quickly discovered her passion for the ancient practice of yoga. Seeking to further her experience, she enrolled in the Evansville Yoga Center 200 hour teaching training. After receiving her certification, she began teaching Hatha yoga at Evansville Yoga Center. Her classes mainly consist of a slow-flow to flow style practice. Her love for yoga is accompanied by a passion for psychological, emotional, and physical wellness. She plans to further her journey and continues to promote these qualities in her students through her teaching style. She is available for private class sessions as well. Feel free to contact her at [email protected].

Whitney Arvin

Whitney began learning about yoga back in 2000 but began a regular practice while attending USI in 2006. It became a regular part of her life after discovering that it greatly reduced the stress of being a single parent, working and in school as well as nearly eliminated many lifelong issues with her back/hip problems. Whitney received certification through Yoga Alliance in the spring of 2010 (200 hr.) and is always seeking to continue her education and expansion of knowledge in the various forms of yoga. She is currently studying physical therapy (UE) in order to bring more yoga into the medical world. She enjoys bringing various styles to each class and strives to give every individual whatever it is they are seeking in yoga (and hopefully more).

Pam Van Vorst

Lacy McNear

Lacy discovered yoga in 2008 by walking into a yoga class at the local gym she attended; however, it wasn't until she walked into her first class at the Evansville Yoga Center that she discovered the mind and body connection. Lacy completed her teaching training certification from the Evansville Yoga Center in 2011. She believes yoga should make you feel good, and that feeling should stay with you even after you roll up your mat. As well as a yoga instructor, Lacy is also a registered dietitian at St. Mary Hospital in Evansville, IN. Her goal and passion is to honor the body through food, breath, and yoga practice. Lacy is excited to share her love for yoga as a teacher and devoted student.

Gayle Bailey Golike

Denise Lynn

Denise Lynn did yoga for the first time 14 years ago, and fell in love. It was not until 8 years ago that she started a regular yoga practice. As a full-time history teacher, Denise loves to learn and share the lessons she learns with others; therefore, yoga teacher training was a natural next step. Denise completed her teacher training in May 2010 at the Evansville Yoga Center with Chris Crews and is now a Certified Yoga Instructor. She has been teaching and practicing yoga ever since and feels blessed and thankful to have this practice in her life!

Jessica Le Gate

Jessi discovered her love for yoga in 2005 while attending a class at the Evansville Yoga Center with a friend. After that class she knew that's what she was meant to do. In 2010 she completed her 200 hour training from the Evansville Yoga Center. Jessi teaches Hatha yoga but likes to incorporate other styles also. Giving the class and everyone individually what they need, but having fun at the same time.
